Jaycee Park – All-Inclusive Accessible Playground: Universal design, rubber surfacing, wheelchair ramps, and adaptive swings.Burnhamthorpe Community Centre: Major redevelopment delivered a new aquatic centre, fitness centre, gym renovations, Chic Murray arena updates, and multipurpose rooms. Over 4,000 residents attended its 2024 reopening.Tomken Twin Pad Arena Redevelopment: Building, refrigeration, HVAC, roof, parking and lifecycle improvements.Therapy Pool — Birmingham Thorpe Community Centre: Chris fought for and secured a therapy pool at Burnhamthorpe Community Centre — giving Ward 3 residents access to aquatic therapy and wellness programming right in their neighbourhood.65+ Fit Membership (April 2025): Launched April 2025: free access to 13 city fitness facilities, 400+ drop-in classes, equipment, swims, and skates. Road safety in Ward 3 is not an afterthought — it’s a deliberate, years-long campaign. Chris has pushed through traffic calming measures across dozens of streets, secured tougher school-zone rules, established new pedestrian crossings, and built lasting partnerships between residents, Peel Regional Police, and Fire Services to make Ward 3 one of Mississauga’s safest places to live.
Speed Limit Reductions (2021): Neighbourhood limits reduced from 50 to 40 km/h; school zones from 40 to 30 km/h throughout Ward 3.School Community Safety Zones (2021–Present): Ward 3 schools are designated Community Safety Zones — areas where fines for traffic violations are doubled and signage reinforces reduced speed limits to better protect students.Flagship Drive Speed Cushions (May 2021): Average speeds down more than 17 km/h; compliance up over 35%.Traffic Calming on Golden Orchard Drive, Willowbank Trail, Bough Beeches Boulevard, and Flagship Drive.Two New Mid-Block Pedestrian Signals on Bloor Street: At Applewood Trail and Chechalk Trail — now operational.School Streets Pilot: Temporary vehicle closures during afternoon pickup at St. Alfred Separate School and Brian W. Ward 3 residents deserve to be proud of the streets they live on. Chris has partnered with residents and City staff to raise the bar on everything from trail maintenance and park upkeep to pest control and waste management — delivering practical solutions that keep Ward 3 looking and feeling its best.
8,854 trees planted across Ward 3 (2021–2025), including 1,588 in the most recent year — contributing to the City's goal of one million trees by 2032.Moved Resolution 0163-2024 supporting City participation in the Federation of Canadian Municipalities' Growing Canada's Community Canopies program."Harvest High-Way" Pilot (2017/2018): Urban agriculture program on balconies of four multi-unit buildings — over 40 balconies, 90 containers.Residential Rat Control Subsidy Program (2021): Chris surfaced this issue at the regional level — earning public credit from the Regional Chair. The result: a 50% rebate (up to $200/year) for licensed pest control, with contractors now held to higher abatement standards that have become the benchmark for pest management across the region.Aerial Spray Program (2022): Biological insecticide targeting invasive spongy moths across approximately 2,100 hectares.Dog Waste Containers Pilot: 15 in-ground containers in 8 parks converting dog waste into renewable energy and fertilizer.Coyotes & Urban Wildlife (2021–Present): Teaming up with City animal services and the TRCA, Chris drove the rollout of coyote awareness, hazing education, and community deterrence programs across Ward 3. Safer roads, less congestion, faster commutes, & accessible, affordable transit.
Ward 3 residents shouldn’t have to fight to get around their own neighbourhood. Chris has driven improvements across every mode of travel — securing dedicated transit lanes on Dundas, landing free MiWay access for seniors and kids, rebuilding key corridors on Bloor, Rathburn, and Ponytrail, and carving out new cycling and pedestrian infrastructure. The result: a ward that moves more safely and reliably than it did four years ago.
Dundas BRT (Ongoing 2021–2026): A $405.7M transformation of Dundas Street: 7 km of dedicated transit lanes, protected cycle tracks, and widened sidewalks. Chris has been a driving force behind this project from environmental assessment through to active construction.Kipling Bus Terminal Connection (2021): Delivered in 2021 — Ward 3 riders can now connect seamlessly from MiWay to TTC subway and GO Transit at Kipling, cutting commutes and opening up the city.Free Transit for Seniors & Children (July 1, 2025): A landmark win: as of July 1, 2025, seniors 65+ and children under 12 ride MiWay free. Chris championed this program and helped bring it across the finish line.E-Scooter Enforcement & Regulation Blitz (Ongoing): Chris launched and sustained a targeted enforcement blitz on e-scooters — cracking down on sidewalk riding and unsafe behaviour across shared paths, roads, and trails to protect pedestrians and cyclists.Share the Road — Safe Streets Certification (with Eleanor McMahon): Chris partnered with Eleanor McMahon to earn Share the Road's Safe Streets certification for Mississauga — formal recognition of the City's commitment to streets where everyone belongs.2026 Road Resurfacing Program: Published list and map of residential streets scheduled for work this year.Rathburn Road East & Ponytrail Drive Integrated Project: Pavement rehabilitation, safety improvements, drainage, noise walls, and cycling enhancements from Dixie Road to Etobicoke Creek.Two New Mid-Block Pedestrian Signals on Bloor Street: Secured new traffic signals at Bloor & Applewood Trail and Bloor & Chechalk Trail — protecting pedestrians, cyclists, and stroller users crossing Bloor. Burnhamthorpe Community Centre (2021–2024): A complete reinvention — new aquatic centre, overhauled fitness centre, Chic Murray arena upgrades, gym renovations, and expanded multipurpose rooms. More than 4,000 residents turned out for the reopening celebration.Gulleden Park (Completed Fall 2025): Transformed from an underused green space into a four-season community destination — spray pad, playground, accessible trails, pickleball courts, multipurpose court, junior skateboard feature, fitness areas, and a refrigerated outdoor skating rink.Glenforest Youth Hub (2026): The city's second youth hub — built on the former Glenforest Secondary School site and shaped from the ground up by 617 Ward 3 residents. Programming spans meals, wellness, digital access, cooking classes, and career support. Construction anticipated to complete 2026.Bethesda Common Park (2025): Playground expansion and shade structure, now open to the community.Glen Forest Youth Hub (Anticipated Completion: Late 2027): Construction of the Glen Forest Youth Hub is underway, with completion anticipated in late 2027. The hub will provide youth in Ward 3 with expanded programming, recreation, and community support services.Resolution 0232-2024: Chris moved the declaration of food insecurity as an emergency in Mississauga — triggering a council-wide coordinated response.Affordable Rental Housing Program: $70M initiative supporting 1,400+ new rental homes with below-market rent options.Long-Term Care (June 2024): Moved motion supporting the proposed 128-bed long-term-care home at 1699 Dundas Street East.Arts & Culture: June 2026 — moved adoption of The Creative Advantage: A Transformational Action Plan for Mississauga's Cultural and Creative Sector. Chris pushed through amendments strengthening grant funding, locking in annual consultations with arts organizations, and improving logistical support for festivals.Disability Without Poverty (November 2024): Moved motion of support for Canadians with disabilities living in poverty — communicated federally.Stand With Ukraine (2024): Community solidarity program supporting Ukrainian residents and newcomers in Ward 3. Chris pioneered the motion to establish a sister-city relationship between Mississauga and Ternopil, Ukraine — only the second such pairing in the city's history. The bond was marked by renaming a local park in Ternopil's honour.Healthy Cities Initiative – Cities for Better Health (2024): Chris backed Mississauga's entry into the WHO-affiliated Cities for Better Health initiative — translating a global health commitment into neighbourhood-level programs and partnerships that directly serve Ward 3 residents.Rental Housing Protection By-law (2026): Chris spearheaded Mississauga's Rental Housing Protection By-law — a made-in-Mississauga policy passed in April 2026 that shields renters from unlawful renovictions and locks in new landlord obligations during redevelopment. A landmark step forward for housing security in the city.Short-Term Accommodation Bylaw Framework & $104M Federal Funding: Chris secured $104 million in federal funding and built the regulatory framework governing short-term rentals in Mississauga — protecting long-term housing availability and keeping Ward 3 neighbourhoods stable.St. Luke's Westminster & Westminster United Developments: Chris is supportive of the developments at St. Luke's Westminster and Westminster United, where 11% of units will be accessible for seniors.
